Now online is a new Christmas song just for the community of Buchanan. Resident Dr. Greta Pope wrote “Christmas in Buchanan” to help the community gear up for the Small Town, Big Christmas celebration next week. The song is a take on “Christmas in Killarney.” Buchanan Area Chamber of Commerce Director Ashley Regal tells WSJM News Pope is a part time resident of Buchanan who is an internationally recognized, award-winning vocalist. She’s also published some self-help books. Regal’s glad to have a holiday tune with a Buchanan theme.

“One of the key lines that a lot of us just found so touching was ‘with all of the folks at home,’ because home and the folks at home in our small town is almost everybody,” Regal said. “We know each other pretty well in this small town, and even strangers are welcomed into the family that is Buchanan.”

The song also makes reference to Buchanan being named the Nicest Place in America to live by Readers Digest in 2020. Small Town, Big Christmas will be next Saturday, and Regal says they’ll sing Christmas in Buchanan when they light the tree. Pope not only wrote the song, but she produced and recorded it, donating it to the town. You can hear the new song right here.
