There are currently eight Red Cross volunteers from Michigan helping out with tornado response in Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, and Arkansas. Most are in Kentucky. The Red Cross tells us two of the volunteers are from Grand Rapids. Meanwhile, four more from the southwest region of the state may be deploying over the next few days. The Red Cross is working with partners to make sure everyone has a safe place to stay, emotional support, and comfort. Saturday night, there were at least eight emergency shelters open in Kentucky providing refuge. Red Cross volunteers are also helping to assess the damage in affected communities. If you want to help, you can donate to Red Cross Disaster Relief at RedCross.org or by texting REDCROSS to 90999. That automatically makes a $10 donation.
