Making travel plans for next year? How about a cruise along the Great Lakes? Conde Nast Traveler has chosen Great Lakes cruising as one of the best travel options for 2022.Cruise the Great Lakes initiative chair Dave Lorenz says we’ve had cruises along the Great Lakes, and more ship operators are coming online in the coming years.
“These are much smaller ships, by the way,” says Lorenz. “They average between 200 and up to 400 passengers. But the business has been growing for years. Not as much as in the past, let’s say three years or so when the cruise ship operators started to realize that people are looking for new and different places.”
Lorenz says COVID-19 put a pause on Great Lakes cruising, but it’s expected to resume in 2022.
