As 2022 draws near, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson says 2021 was a year of challenges and successes. She told Michigan’s Big Show this week waiting times are greatly reduced at branch offices. Part of the reason is a lot can be done without having to go to them.

A few things remain that must be done in person.

Benson says Michiganders conduct 60% of all transactions without visiting an office, up from 28% in 2018. She notes the Secretary of State office carried out technology upgrades in 2019 and 2021, and also installed more than 150 new self-service stations, many at grocery stores and open nights and weekends.
