The city of South Haven will spend some American Rescue Plan Act funds to replace lead water service lines. Public Works director Bill Hunter says the city needs to be spending $2.3 million annually on infrastructure, and the city is nowhere near that amount.

“Any amount that we can get will be greatly appreciated. This is just the starting amount. It’s nothing in stone. If city council says thanks but no thanks, that’s a response as well,” said Hunter,

South Haven Township has already approved spending $160,000, and the South Haven City Council approved spending $160,156 in its ARPA money.
