Grand Valley State University is expanding it’s successful Grand Valley Pledge, which offers free tuition to students with families making $50,000 or less. Vice president of enrollment development at Grand Valley, B. Donta Truss, says initially the Pledge only was only available to students in the six counties where Grand Valley has a presence. Now it’s available statewide.

“We wanted to extend that because ultimately what we want to do is to remove financial barriers for our prospective students,” says Truss. “We don’t want financial situations to stop bar students from joining us here at Grand Valley State University.”

Nearly 400 students took advantage of the tuition program last year.
