Michigan’s small businesses continue to struggle with workforce shortages, inflation and supply chain disruptions, according to a new survey released by the Small Business Association of Michigan. Small Business Association of Michigan president and CEO Brian Calley discusses how the survey respondents felt about the ongoing supply chain issues.

“The two most common responses are to of course increase wages, about 70 percent of the respondents said that they had increased wages to attract and retain employees, but then also the number two approach was a more flexible work schedule and environment.”

Calley says he’s hearing from industries that, because of shortages, supply changes sometimes need to be made at a moment’s notice as companies scour the landscape to find new suppliers.
