Benton Harbor Area Schools Superintendent Andrae Townsel has received a glowing performance evaluation from the board of education. The district says the board at a special meeting rated Townsel as highly effective for his second year as superintendent. That’s the best ranking. Board President Dashuna Robinson says Townsel “has committed his efforts to rebranding Benton Harbor Area Schools through the development of a communications plan that has strengthened parental, community, and stakeholder support and belief in the potential of positive outcomes for district performance.” She adds he’s done an exceptional job at fiscal management and strategic planning. For the evaluation, the school board used a tool developed by the Michigan Association of School Boards. The superintendent is the only district staff member directly hired and supervised by the board.
