Following her State of the State address, Governor Gretchen Whitmer is reiterating core messages from her speech. As the COVID-19 pandemic lingers schools are still facing challenges with in-person learning but Whitmer says children need to physically be in class.

“We’re going to continue working with the local departments of health and the school districts to do everything we can as a state to support and get them back in person.”

The governor says 98% of state school districts are learning in-person and it’s crucial to make sure all schools are. She says children learn better when they are face to face with teachers.
