Berrien RESA is launching a new campaign to draw attention to the hard work of teachers in Berrien County. Superintendent Eric Hoppstock tells WSJM News with the Learn by Heart campaign, RESA is going to collect stories of educators and share them within their communities.

“Here are the great things that educators do, and it’s more than just teachers,” Hoppstock said. “It’s paraprofessionals, it’s buss drivers. It’s those individuals that intersect with the lives of students on a daily basis and in the context of we’ve had COVID, we’ve tense board meetings. We know what negative things are happening, but we don’t spend enough time celebrating. But here are the mountain of good things that have happened within our schools.”

Hoppstock says RESA’s radar is up and it’s reaching out to schools and communities to learn the stories of positive things teachers have done for their students. Those stories will be shared via social media, with publications within the districts, and through media outlets. Hoppstock says Learn by Heart is an opportunity for community members, parents, businesses, and elected leaders to reflect on all that our education staff have done.
