A new award for volunteers in Cass County has been created by the United Way of Southwest Michigan. It says Judge Susan L. Dobrich Volunteer Leadership Award for Cass County will go each year to one volunteer in the county who demonstrates more than eight years of volunteer contributions, a diversity of volunteer experience, and various levels of volunteer experience. The winner of the award will receive $3,500 that will be directed to a non-profit that serves Cass County residents. The McLoughlin Family Foundation created the award with the United Way to recognize Judge Dobrich’s leadership in Cass County and to honor other leaders like her in the community. The United Way of Southwest Michigan says in 1995, Dobrich founded the Court Appointed Special Advocate program in Cass County to give children a voice in abuse and neglect matters. You can submit nominations at the United Way’s website.
