The St. Joseph High School varsity wrestling team has won the regional championship for the first time ever. The team won in a home match Wednesday, first taking down Edwardsburg and then Plainwell. Coach Taylor Misel tells us it’s now on to the state finals next Friday at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo. That’s the highest you can go. Misel says the victory is “incredible, historic, legendary.” He tells us the team has 28 on the roster, led by eight seniors. In the team’s 50 year history, this is the first time it’s made it to the Elite 8.
