Police are investigating a shooting in Benton Township on Saturday. The Benton Township Police Department says officers were called to the area of M-139 and East Britain Avenue around 8:45 p.m. on a report of a shooting turned into a crash. They found a vehicle on its side as well as another vehicle off the road, both of which had bullet holes in them. In the vehicle that had rolled, they found a 21-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the arm. She was taken to BHSH Spectrum Health Lakeland for treatment and her injuries are not life threatening. There were three others in her vehicle — a 23-year-old man, a 4-year-old girl, and a 2-year-old. They were taken to the hospital to be evaluated for minor injuries in the crash. Police say witnesses reported a vehicle had been traveling in the same direction as the two that crashed when someone in it started firing.
