Several auto companies and suppliers promising to cut their greenhouse emissions in half over the next decade, as part of the U.S. Energy Department’s “Better Climate Challenge.” Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm says the companies and the government have agreed to work together to share the best ways of cutting greenhouse emissions.

“Change like this always comes with challenges and some of those challenges are going to be technical, and some are going to be financial or organizational.”

Ford and General Motors are part of the initial group of participants as well as a number of major auto suppliers.
