Meijer has made a donation to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Benton Harbor. Spokesperson Sherri Ulleg tells WSJM News the company is supporting Boys and Girls Clubs throughout the Midwest. Representatives stopped by the local Boys and Girls Clubs this past week.

“Representatives from their district, from Stevensville, and from Benton Harbor Meijer delivered a check to our clubs for $50,000, and Meijer is supporting 24 Boys and Girls Clubs across the Midwest,” Ulleg said. “They invested a total of $1.2 million.”

Ulleg says Meijer is a longtime supporter of the local organization.

“They’re very committed as a compan6y to supporting youth development, and Boys and Girls Clubs have been one of those priorities for many years. When we opened our buildings in Benton Harbor in 2012, Meijer was a  great supporter of the capital campaign.”

Ulleg says the Boys and Girls Clubs will use the funds for its youth development programs in Benton Harbor, St. Joseph, and South Haven. In all, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Benton Harbor operates seven sites around the three communities. Meijer CEO Rick Keyes says Boys and Girls Clubs “offer safe places for children and teens to grow into the future leaders our communities will need,” and the company is glad to support them.
