A state grant program aims to help businesses still hurting as a result of the pandemic, and the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber is urging local companies to apply. The Growing MI Business Grants Program is a $409 million fund created by the state with ARPA money. The chamber’s Arthur Havlicek tells WSJM News some small businesses are having trouble shaking pandemic problems.

“Particularly those that were shut down over a longer period of time or more impacted by the lingering effects of staffing shortages, inflation, supply chain issues,” Havlicek said. “They really continue to struggle.”

What categories of businesses qualify for the Growing MI Business Grants Program?

“Some are absolutely at risk of closing their doors and they’re saying they need a bump now if they’re going to make it to summer.”

Havlicek says some local businesses say they may not be able to survive through the summer. The can apply for Growing MI Business Grants Program funds starting this past week and the deadline is March 31. You can apply here.
