There is definitely pain at the pump. Gas prices continue to climb to new yearly highs. Triple-A Michigan says the average price of a gallon of gas is $3.97. Analyst Patrick DeHaan from GasBuddy says the switch from winter to summer blend of gas and the war in Ukraine is causing the spike. He says cutting off oil from Russia will cause short term pain.

“We do it now and rip the Band-Aid off once very quickly or we’re going to continue to have these issues down the road. It could enable Putin to keep attacking other countries, so let’s just take maximum pain for how long it takes, and that will be a better outcome than letting Putin continue to fund the invasion of Ukraine.”

Triple A says prices are up 42¢ from a week ago and $1.25 higher than this time last year.
