Kitchenaid Senior PGA Championship winner Alex Cejka has come to Benton Harbor to see the sights and preview this year’s Kitchenaid Senior PGA Championship to be held at Harbor Shores in May. Cejka spoke with reporters Monday and also took some shots at the Harbor Shores driving range to raise money for First Tee. He told us he looks forward to becoming more familiar with Harbor Shores.

“It looks very tough, very challenging, a total different golf course than I imagined before I came here,” Cejka said. “Then suddenly, standing on two or three tee shots and seeing how narrow…It’s up and down. Water on the left, trees on the right. So, it looks a little bit intimidating right now, but I think I’m going out this afternoon to see a couple of holes, and hopefully I can come before the tournament and play one or two rounds.”

Cejka said he got in Sunday night and was able to learn a little about the area.

“I didn’t really know at all what to expect. You see on the map where it is, but then you drive around and somebody gives you the history. What it was and what the plan is, what’s going on, the vision that they have and how they slowly progress that vision and how the town is growing. It was really interesting and very touching. I’m really looking forward to seeing a lot of people in this town in a couple of months and helping the community to grow a little bit.”

Cejka shared tips with some members of First Tee and shot a few golf balls at the Harbor Shores driving range to make a donation of $5,000 to First Tee. The 2022 Kitchenaid Senior PGA Championship will take place May 25 through May 29 and tickets are available now.
