Work starts next week on a reconstruction project on M-51 near Decatur. The Michigan Department of Transportation says the project will include asphalt resurfacing, drainage structure repairs, curb ramps, and new pavement markings. It will affect 1.4 miles of road from Mills Street to Parkhurst Drive. The project starts Monday and continues through mid-May. MDOT says it’s intended to create a smoother road that will last longer. Drivers can expect single lane closures with flag controls. The reconstruction is a $626,000 investment in the road.
