The Amtrak Pere Marquette line has been named the Best Train Line in the United States by travel website Wanderu’s 2022 Passengers Choice Awards. The site rated travel around the country in several categories, and says the Pere Marquette tied with the Amtrak Ethan Allen Express for top train line. The Ethan Allen Express runs from New York to Vermont. The Pere Marquette runs from Chicago to Grand Rapids, of course with a stop in St. Joseph. Wanderu says the Pere Marquette placed so high because of “its reliable and comfortable service.” A user said of the line, “Great overall experience and very quick. The conductors were super friendly.”
