Divorce filings are exploding. Jennifer Lindquist, an associate attorney at MichiganDivorceHelp.com, says figures are up 20% over pre-pandemic levels:
“Divorce is becoming a more and more normal part of society in general as we’re seeing people sometimes in their 30s on their second or third divorce,” Lindquist said. “So, I would say it’s definitely more socially acceptable to be getting divorced.”
Before COVID, Lindquist says married couples in general had separate professional lives. Over the last two years, many were sharing remote-work space at home, which can cause tension.
