Commission Approves Pay Increases For County Employees

Salary increases have been approved for several Berrien County officials. During Thursday’s meeting of the Berrien County Board of Commissioners, Chair Mac Elliott named some of those who are getting 2.5% pay increases starting January 1.

“The sheriff would be one,” Elliott said. “The prosecutor, the drain commissioner, the treasurer, the clerk, and the registrar of deeds.”

The 2.5% pay increase would be repeated on January 1 of the following year. The increases apply to county commissioners, who make $11,061 per year currently. The chair is paid $12,530 per year right now. The salary increases approved Thursday match the salary schedule and were recommended by the Personnel and Human Services Committee.
