The Berrien County Board of Commissioners is being asked by the county road department to approve a request for funding from the state for several bridge replacement projects. Speaking at Thursday’s meeting, Commissioner Jim Curran said a resolution will be coming soon to pursue the projects.

“The Lincoln Avenue bridge over the Hickory drain, Hinchman Road bridge over the Hickory Creek drain, the Glendora Road bridge over the east branch of the Galien River,” Curran said. “This authorizes the road department to submit applications to the Michigan Department of Transportation in order to be considered for selection to receive funding from the local bridge program funding.”

Curran said these would be in the 2025 construction season. The Berrien County Road Department will apply for the funding from the Michigan Department of Transportation for critical bridge replacements.
