A $720,000 pledge has been made by the Lakeshore Excellence Foundation to Lakeshore Public Schools. Speaking to the board of education this week, LEF Chair J.C. Anderson said the foundation is making the investment over three years in three parts. First up, it’s investing $345,000 in technology at the elementary level. Up next is $150,000 for teacher recruitment. He notes that’s become increasingly difficult.

“There are signing bonuses, there are incentives to sign for this district versus another district,” Anderson said. “So, we are funding $50,000 a year over the three year period of time for up to $10,000 in signing incentives.”

Anderson said the third focus will be on professional development. The LEF is directing $225,000 to that goal.

“The combination of this training over a three year period of time, and then Late Start Wednesdays, it all will come together.”

The LEF Board voted unanimously on April 7 to make the commitment. Superintendent Greg Eding thanked the Lakeshore Excellence Foundation and said he’s “beyond excited and humbled” by the investment. Anderson said this is the largest investment the Lakeshore Excellence Foundation has made in the district.
