Indiana Michigan Power marked its ninth annual National Lineworker Appreciation Day on Monday. I&M says the day was established in 2013 by the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives to honor the thousands of men and women who often work in hazardous conditions to ensure the reliable delivery of electricity. I&M has nearly 21,000 miles of distribution lines and close to 5,000 miles of transmission lines across 2,100 square miles. It also has nearly 200 electrical workers who support the company’s 24 county service area in Indiana and six county area in Michigan. I&M’s electrical workers are responsible for maintaining the company’s approximately 25,000 plus miles of power lines around the clock. Indiana Michigan Power COO Steve Baker says the company is proud of the workers who are available, 24/7 in all kinds of conditions to keep the lights on for people around the two states.
