Compass Music Festival This Saturday In St. Joseph

Set for Saturday is the Compass Music Festival in downtown St. Joseph. To be held at Whirlpool Centennial Park, the eight hour event is a series of concerts by an eclectic set of artists. St. Joseph Today’s Amy Zapal tells WSJM News the event replaces the former Barbecue, Blues, and Bluegrass Festival, allowing for more variety.

“Not being able to have it for 2020 and 2021 really allowed us an opportunity to explore some new genres of music, some different food,” Zapal said. “We’ll have some really great local food. There’s some vegan stuff, there’s some barbecue, there’s all sorts of different things that are just delicious. But the music is what I’m really excited about.”

Zapal says it’s great to get together after the event was canceled the last two years.

“It should be a really wonderful day filled with indie and pop. Just great music.”

The shows start at 12:20 p.m. with The Backups and The Get Downs. They’re followed by Jack Droppers and The Best Intentions, Mary Lambert, Morningsiders, and then headliner JP Saxx. Everything will wrap up at 8 p.m. Zapal says there will be a wide variety of food and beverages to try. You can get tickets at StJoeToday.com.
