A new mural is now painted on a Cornerstone Alliance-owned building in Benton Harbor. The mural is a partnership between Cornerstone Alliance and St. Joseph Today. It’s located on the back of a vacant building at 92 West Main Street and was painted by Indiana based artist Jeff Pilkinton, who is one of the regular Chalk the Block artists. St. Joseph Today’s Amy Zapal tells WSJM News what it is.

“It is a beautiful woman, just her face from the shoulders up with this really vibrant background of yellow and pink flowers,” Zapal said. “It’s just beautiful. We looked at the concept and we loved the concept, but to see it come to life on the back of that building is just amazing. It’s beautiful.”

Zapal says the mural was completed on Tuesday. She hopes people will head to downtown Benton Harbor and check out the image covering the back of the Cornerstone building in the alley. This is the fourth mural St. Joe Today has helped to commission in the area, and Zapal says she believes they make people feel welcome.
