An information session will be held next month at Lake Michigan College for the college to tell potential students about the LMC Promise. The session will be Wednesday, June 8 starting at 6 p.m. in Room 1304 in the Todd Center at the Benton Township campus. LMC Director of Admissions Caroline Tubbs tells WSJM News with programs like Michigan Reconnect and others, it’s now possible for anyone to earn a degree at a community college at no cost.

“We have all these students who qualify for these programs for aid,” Tubbs said. “We wanted to continue to offer that to students. We’ve gotten so much interest this past year with offering free tuition to our students, we just wanted to continue to offer that to students who don’t have a college degree yet.”

The LMC Promise covers tuition costs of students who are in-district high school graduates through age 24. Tubbs says that means it pays the remaining tuition costs once other grants and scholarships have been applied. The program was created to meet the needs of students and local employers.
