The new splash pad in Lincoln Township could open next week. Township Treasurer Terrie Smith tells WSJM News the splash pad is at Community Center Park behind the township hall off Roosevelt Road. It’s been delayed multiple times, first by COVID and then by water pressure issues. Testing is taking place Monday and it could open Tuesday.

“It’s been a long process,” Smith said. “For the last two years, two and a half years, and we’re hoping that by Monday, it’s all system’s go and everything checks out properly.”

Smith says the township wanted to give people a water attraction at a time when such parks are becoming more popular. The Lincoln Township splash pad is different from the one in St. Joseph. It has different types of sprayers, each suited to different ages.

“This one has  different type of equipment on it that sprays. Some shoot up from the bottom, there’s tubing to go through that sprays you as you go through it. It’s also set on a timer so that when someone hits the on button, it’ll keep running.”

Smith believes the water will run for 15 minutes, although that’s not final yet. She says she’s glad the township could offer something like this to residents. The township paid for the pad with its own funds.
