Triple-A Michigan is predicting nearly 1.7 million people in the state will travel at least 50 miles for Independence Day weekend, up 10% from last year and slightly higher from 2019. Over 1.5 million will drive, while 54,000 will fly and almost 81,000 will travel by bus, train, or take a cruise. Triple-A says the number of expected travelers is a definite sign that summer travel is kicking into high gear, despite record-high gas prices.
