500,000 people are expected to converge on Traverse City for the 96th National Cherry Festival which starts this Saturday. Executive director Kat Paye says many events are back, which were suspended by the pandemic, including the air show with the Blue Angels.

“It starts this Saturday, July 2nd and July 3rd, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. daily featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and several other pilots,” says Paye. “We have 10 acts in the air show.”

Of course, Paye says you can get cherry pie, cherry cookies, cherry cheese, cherry maple syrup and cherry margaritas. She says there will be concerts, a cherry pie eating contest, and amusement rides. The festival runs through July 9th.
