Four Republicans vying for your vote to be Michigan’s next governor debated for the fifth time ahead of the August 2nd primary in Grand Rapids Wednesday. A portion of the debate dedicated to abortion rights and gubernatorial hopeful Tudor Dixon using her time to criticize Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s pro-choice stance, then taking aim at Dana Nessel who says she will not enforce a state law criminalizing abortions.

“When you hear the Attorney General say the will of the people, the laws that are on the books, will not be enforced by her, you have to say ‘I gotta have someone that is willing to enforce rule of law,’” said Dixon. “Rule of law in this country, in this state, is so important.”

Dixon, Ryan Kelley, and Kevin Rinke oppose abortion. Garrett Soldano also opposed, with an exception to preserve the life of the mother. Candidate Ralph Rebandt of Farmington Hills did not meet the polling threshold set by event organizers, so he wasn’t invited.
