Animal shelters in Michigan and around the country are full. That’s why the BISSELL Pet Foundation is holding a three week Empty the Shelters event starting now. Foundation founder Cathy Bissell says it’ll be reduced fee adoptions.
“Each shelter will vary in costs,” says Bissell. “Some shelters may have totally free adoptions depending on the need to get the animals out, mainly more municipal shelters, and then some may charge up to $50.”
Bissell says 38 shelters in Michigan are taking part in the event, including the Al-Van Humane Society in South Haven. You can go to Bissellpetfoundation.org for more information.
