Coming up next Saturday will be the first ever Hartford Public Library Comic Book Fair. Library Director Stephanie Daniels tells WSJM News they’ll have plenty of comics, a costume contest, and Marvel Comics illustrator Jerry DeCaire.

“He’s going to show how he uses science and math to create his drawings, his illustrations,” Daniels said. “He did work with Thor, X-Men, Wolverine, Conan, Punisher, Ironman, and many others. We’re going to give away free comic books, and we’ll have some comic books for sale.”

DeCaire will speak at 11 a.m. Daniels says the Comic Book Fair will be the kickoff of the library’s Hartford Teen Creative Writing Contest. Any teens who want to hone their literary skills can find all the information they need at the event. Daniels says she hears a lot from people interested in comics, and she wants to encourage anything that gets people reading. The fair will be next Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hartford Public Library.
