General Motors will keep its headquarters in its seven-building office tower complex in downtown Detroit, its CEO says. Mary Barra, in an interview with The Associated Press, says the automaker’s main office will remain in the Renaissance Center, the centerpiece of the city’s skyline just across the Detroit River from Canada. Barra was also asked what she expected in terms of a possible economic downturn.

“We’re watching it very carefully,” Barra said. “We always look at affordability, but we’re still seeing really strong demand for our products.”

Barra says the auto industry and the economy are in uncharted waters as the landscape changes to electric vehicles. She says she believes GM can beat Tesla in the EV market. B
