The Van Buren Youth Fair is underway in Hartford. Paul Garrod is a member of the fair board and says the week-long event is based on months of planning.

“We don’t start on it in June and plan for the fair in July,” says Garrod. “It’s year-round planning and we have a great group of volunteers, a great board, and they step in and get it done.”

The fair runs until Saturday, and tethered balloon rides and the Farm Stock Tractor Pull start things off tonight.

“Tuesday night, 7 pm, the Hartford NTPA Tractor Pull get underway. Wednesday night, the Hartsell Demolition Derby, something new this year. On Thursday night there will be KOI Drag Racing.”

That will be followed by Friday’s Super Kicker Rodeo and Saturday the fair comes to a close with the Unique Motor Sports Night of Destruction. Fair admission is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors, $3 for kids from 6 to 12, and free for anyone younger than that. The carnival will be open from 1 pm to close Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and noon to close on Wednesday.
