Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel says she is working with elections officials to prepare for any possible problems on August 2, the day of Michigan’s primaries. Speaking on CNN Wednesday, Nessel said staff are talking with clerks.
“Our department has been working hand in hand with the clerk’s association and we’ve been giving presentations and making people feel assured they’re going to be safe and protected,” Nessel said. “My department is giving advice to those clerks as to what to do in a wide array of circumstances, and we’re sending information to all the police departments.”
Nessel said the AG’s office is telling police how to best handle disturbances or disruptions at the polls. It did the same in 2020.
