Progress is being made on fixing the roof of the Van Buren County Historical Museum in Hartford after a storm tore the roof off the front of the building on June 13. A tarp is over the parts of the building without a roof and VanDam & Krusinga have made temporary repairs as officials wait for the county to bid out the repairs. Roughly 85% of the artifacts survived the storm and historical documents have been removed to a safe place to be dried. The pictures that were destroyed will be reproduced from originals in the archive. The museum will include a story of how the building survived the storm when it reopens. Nearly $6,400 has been raised through a GoFundMe set up by the Historical Society of Michigan for the recovery efforts.
