Miss Southwest Michigan pageant set for Sunday

The Blossomtime Festival is set to host the 2023 Miss Southwest Michigan and Miss Southwest Michigan Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant this Sunday, August 28 at the Bridgman High School Auditorium.

The Miss Southwest Michigan Scholarship Pageant is the only preliminary competition in Berrien County that leads to the Miss Michigan Pageant and ultimately, Miss America.

Young ladies between the ages of 13 and 18 will compete for the Outstanding Teen title judged on talent, private interview, red carpet and on-stage question, and physical fitness.  While young women ages 18 through 26 will vie for the title of Miss Southwest Michigan judged on their private interview, on-stage interview/social impact pitch, talent, and red carpet.

This year, seven ladies compete for the title of Miss Southwest – Aubrey Allen of Niles, Brianna Gleason of Niles, Lauren Mroczek of Mattawan, Iyla O’Connor of Kalamazoo, Breckyn Bussey of St. Joseph, Alyssa Loucks of Kalamazoo, and Janelle Reiff of Kalamazoo.

Three teens will compete for the title Miss Southwest Michigan Outstanding Teen – Dylan Curtis of Portage, Peighton Mooney of Stevensville, and Brye Waterhouse of St. Joseph.
