Governor Gretchen Whitmer is providing further reaction to Tuesday’s jury verdict that found two men guilty of plotting to kidnap her.

“The rise in hate and threats and domestic terrorism in this country is really disturbing,” Whitmer said. “It’s not just been at me. For years, I’ve been asking people to lower the temperature. People will be held accountable. We settle our differences at the ballot box and then move forward. I think the conclusion of the trial was a just result.”

Adam Fox and Barry Croft Jr. were found guilty of conspiring to kidnap the governor, and trying to obtain a weapon of mass destruction. They will be sentenced in December. The governor’s comments came after a meeting with administrators, teachers, parents, and students in Novi as part of her “Back To School Tour.”
