Set for September 8 is an event intended to help seniors get together and socialize. September Serenade will be at Caretel Inns on Loraine Path in St. Joseph from 5 to 7 p.m. Organizer Patrick McQuone tells us after a couple of years of trying times, he wanted to give everyone a chance to socialize and have fun.

“We have things for little kids, medium age kids, teenagers, all the way up,” McQuone said. “We’re featuring some live music, some fair foods, and the entire event is free of charge. The other thing that we’re doing, and I think this is so important right now as we move forward, is we’re also having a photographer so you can have pictures taken in a fun atmosphere.”

McQuone says the event will be outdoors and everyone’s advised to bring a lawn chair. You can also bring a lunch. The event will feature face painting, badminton, a bounce house, and a hamster ball. McQuone says a lot of seniors haven’t seen some of the people they were once used to seeing before COVID, and he wants them to reconnect. Everyone’s invited to Senior Serenade and the event will be free to attend.
