Eastern Michigan University is asking the Washtenaw County Circuit Court to order faculty back to class after they went on strike this week. The school calls the strike illegal due to the state law banning public employees from going on strike. Central Michigan University made the same argument when its professors went on strike in 2011, and a judge sent professors back to work as contract talks continued. Administrators say the strike will cause “irreparable injury” to students, the public, EMU, and non-faculty employees if it continues.
