A Marcellus woman and an Illinois man are in the hospital following a crash in Cass County.

Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke reported Wednesday that at about 11 a.m., his office was called to the scene of a two-vehicle injury crash at U.s. 12 and Union Road in southeast Cass County.

Investigation showed that Martha Cramer, a 44-year-old Marcellus resident, was traveling east on U.S. 12 in a GMC Yukon when she failed to yield to a semi trailer driven by 42-year-old Pop Ioan, of Lincolnwood, Illinois. The Semi-trailer truck then continued into a power line pole and sign, leaving debris scattered in the roadway.

Cramer was transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash, while Ioan was transported to Elkhart General Hospital. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in this crash, and authorities do not believe the injuries to be life-threatening.

Assisting agencies included Porter Fire SEPSA EMS, Edwardsburg EMS, Michigan State Police, and MDOT.
