The Michigan Secretary of State’s office will hold a license restoration clinic Friday in Benton Harbor. The Road to Restoration clinic is being organized by the Michigan Department of State, the Michigan Department of Attorney General, and local community partners to help drivers with suspended licenses determine what steps they need to take to restore their driving privileges. In 2021, new state laws lifted suspensions for drivers who failed to pay tickets or court fines, or failed to appear in court, for certain violations. While the new laws lifted suspensions for more than 150,000, many still have to take additional action before their license is restored. The Road to Restoration clinics aim to help drivers figure out the process. The clinic Friday will be at McCoy’s Memorial Church of God in Christ on Union Avenue in Benton Harbor from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Those who attend are advised to bring their birth certificate, Social Security card, proof of residency, proof of identity, and a copy of their driving record. A copy of their driving record can be bought at the clinic for $12.
