Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessal and the Michigan Humane Society are partnering in an effort to prosecute more people involved with animal abuse cases. Since the partnership was announced, the AG’s office and the Humane Society have announced charges against 52-year-old Kevin Warren. Michigan Humane CEO Pepper says there are several more cases in the works, that he believes will make communities safer.

“One of the things that we both would like to reinforce, both Dana and myself, is that this isn’t an animal issue,” Pepper said. “This is not simply us responding to animal crimes. This is creating safer neighborhoods because these crimes are often windows into other criminal activity,”

Warren was charged for using Facebook to communicate about breeding, selling, and fighting dogs. He was arraigned in Wayne County on three counts of animal fighting and one count of possessing fighting animals.
