There is still time to seek an absentee ballot for the November 8 election. Speaking at a Monday meeting, St. Joseph City Clerk Abby Bishop said her office has mailed out all of the requested absentee ballots as of last week.

“As of Friday, October 21, all requested absentee ballots have been mailed, which is over 1,680 ballots,” Bishop said.

Bishop said you can seek an absentee ballot at the St. Joseph City Clerk’s office or at Michigan.gov/Vote. The deadline to seek a ballot to vote by mail is 5 p.m. on November 4. The city clerk’s office will be open on Saturday, November 5 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for late comers who still want to vote absentee. Those who go to the special office hours will have to vote there at the clerk’s office and may not leave with their ballot. All absentee ballots must be in by 8 p.m. on November 8. For those brave souls seeking to vote in person, the poll hours on November 8 will be 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
