More than 1.1 million people have already cast their ballots with less than a week to go until Michigan’s midterm and gubernatorial election. Jake Rollow with the Department of State says about 1.9 million people have requested absentee ballots in all.

“Voters who have an absentee ballot but have decided they prefer to vote at the polls, the best practice for them is to bring their absentee ballot to the polling place with them. They will then do what is called surrendering their absentee ballot, whereby they hand it over and it doesn’t matter if it’s been filled out or not filled out.”

Those who haven’t turned in their ballots yet should do so at a drop box within their jurisdiction, to make sure there are no issues with the mail.
