As job openings continue to outpace the number of people unemployed, workers are continuing to make career moves. Robert Half’s Neal Gilbert says it’s still a good time to look for a job.

“The housing market is starting to slow down because of mortgage rates. However, one of things we’re seeing is that employment, at this point at least, seems very unfazed. Unemployment is still at 3.5%. For degreed professionals, it’s still below 2%.”

Gilbert says their research shows that job hopping is a red flag, a strong referral can open doors, and specialized skills are in demand. He says location plays into play and boomerang employees are back in force.
