Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Republican challenger Tudor Dixon are making one final push to reach voters with the election now here. Both candidates shared their final message Monday to voters as thousands prepared to take the polls. Dixon says if she were to be elected, her top goals as governor would be improving education and public safety, along with making sure the state is friendly to businesses.

“We want to make sure that we bring back education,” Dixon said. “We are in the bottom ten in the nation for education right now. I want to see Michigan in the top ten. I want to make sure we get tutors in schools and get our kids on track. I want to make sure that we’re funding police. We have four of the 20 most dangerous cities in the country. I want to make sure that we are bringing back safe communities and also partner with our businesses instead of having state government enemy of our businesses.”

Whitmer says that under her leadership, the state has made progress in education, ensuring clean water, and fixing the roads. Whitmer and Dixon made campaign stops across Michigan Monday.
