The average price for a gallon of gasoline has surged 27¢ over the past week in the state. Triple-A Michigan reports the statewide average is now $4.23, which is 11¢ lower than last month and 80¢ higher than last year. The lowest price in Michigan is $4.18 in Traverse City and the most expensive is in Benton Harbor and Saginaw at $4.27. A 15-gallon fill up now costs an average of $63.
